Last week I spent the week in Yosemite at a technical conference, Cocoaconf (for more on that, look here). It was not primarily a photography trip and I’m still arguing with my camera and my attitude on composition (stay tuned for that discussion) but I did end up having some time one afternoon with a coyote (one of two that started out there) out exploring and hunting near the church, and it’s rare you get that species being quite so cooperative for an extended period. In fact, my biggest hassle was it’s decision ultimately to walk almost directly at and then behind me, putting it too close for the lens to focus on.
I’m guessing a pair is setting up a nest in that area, since I checked back later and saw one of the animals along the river at the same location.
On the good side, it wasn’t begging at the cars and it clearly looks pretty healthy.
Upper Yosemite Falls was in good spirits, strong flow and looking regal as well….
